Before working with an influencer it is important that you understand your brand and your brand goals. Influencers are great at expanding your reach and generating impressions but these are vanity metrics that do not always drive the bottom line. Once you understand your company's brand and goals for your influencer marketing campaign research the influencer. Make sure they align with your brand's messaging and then find a way to marry their brand and your brand, look for a shared goal or identity. It is often worthwhile to collaborate with "micro" influencers on an affiliate deal to test the waters. If this works you can work with larger influencers with similar audiences. The most important thing is that the fit seems natural.

Why are you writing about an influencer, when typically they’d be creating content with, for and/or about you? If your purpose is to demonstrate the power of your biggest supporters, treat your project like a case study or testimonial, be sure you’re talking to the right audience(s), and use storytelling best practices and KPI-/metric-driven results analysis to prove your point.
