1 Tip 1: Set your networking goals

That is so useful and insightful, I remember my journey during Internship and how it led to a full time Job, being a placement officer and a soft skills trainer I witness a number of students being placed with the same employer. When these students enter the organization they enter with a fixed mindset but when they come out, they bring new insights in their career, they come with a broad vision and knowledge of multiple fields, with a career path in hand.

The last and most important tip is to follow up and stay in touch with your network. After you meet someone, send them a thank-you email or message within 24 hours. Express your appreciation, recap the main points of your conversation, and suggest a next step. For example, you can ask for their feedback, invite them to another event, or request an informational interview. To stay in touch, you can send regular updates, share relevant articles or resources, or congratulate them on their accomplishments. This will help you build trust, rapport, and long-term relationships.

For many, your internship can actually be a semester-long job interview. When you see it that way, you can leverage the internship experiences you have to build customized career stories directly aligned with the organizations culture, mission and values. You can research the roles at the company that interest you and actually pursue opportunities to enhance or add on necessary skills and job qualifications. You can also reach out and connect with people who have similar roles and reach out to managers in that area. BUT be careful -- this is not a covert mission. Don't be too aggressive or you may come off as overly eager.
