The earlier you bring others in, the better the program. Listen, HEAR and learn. Everyone comes from a different place, depending on their personal experiences. Often, this means they will have different goals and reasons for engaging. Find the path. You may not be able to meet the needs of everyone at the table, but having the conversation in an open and respectful way will create realistic expectations, will help ensure commitments, support and may create future opportunities.

Don't be afraid to be creative. In fact, hire artists if you can to design the spaces and write the narratives. Community development events are productions, but with a mission. Not only should people come away with information about the mission, they should have an experience with a lasting impression.
