As per my understanding, pair/mob programming is generally used in conjunction with normal programming... In my scenario/opinion, whenever i feel something is critical and needs to be fixed as fast as possible i suggest mob and pair programming... Else according to my experience i think this is not a productive approach to tackle a simple/normal problem... Coming to feedback, the developers should always be open to feedback and improve the code(performance or readability) accordingly!

If it does not tell you about the user problem; then it isn’t a good story. Once you have more than one person coming together on a problem to solve, the solution you arrive at will almost always be better than if one person was left to solve it alone. The reason I say this is even if the one person comes up with most all of the solution, the other person just saying something or reacting may spark something new in that person’s mind that they wouldn’t have arrived at alone. Most times the solution will bounce back and forth. Evolving and shaping, to end up better once there is more than one person. Just having someone there to sound board off will bring about different thought patterns and angles that you may not arrive at alone. This is the power of mobbing and pairing in knowledge work.
