How can you use technology to keep parents informed about school events?

To use a school website or app at school we can use academic calendar updates, extracurricular activities, parent-teacher conferences, and special events and make sure parents understand what is expected of them or their children for each event also,we can ensures timely communication and reduces the likelihood of parents missing important information.

Schoology, and similar gradebook applications, provide easy to use spaces for updates and messages that students and parents can view together in the same space. To use social media platforms l consider conducting a survey or asking parents directly to determine their preferred platform and what the platform they use So we can decide to choose the right platform like Facebook, Twitter, Instagrams etc.

Instagram is a particularly successful way to engage both students and parents about clubs and other school organizations. Facebook is not Gen Z friendly, while Tik Tok and Snapchat are not friendly to older generations. Instagram is a happy middle ground of accessibility.

In addition to Facebook and Instagram, Telegram is another valuable tool for communicating with students and parents about school matters. It may be more suitable for messaging than Instagram, offering enhanced security with adjustable settings. Telegram also facilitates private messaging between users, providing a more secure and focused platform for school-related communications.

Google Forms, Jamboard (though being discontinued) are both great methods to gain informal feedback or to gauge learning via quick formative assessments. You do not need to have Google Classroom to access either of these features, either.

To use multimedia format l will interview with students or staff members, and important details about the event and include dates, times, locations, and any other relevant details in a format that is easy to understand and share and make sure parents can listen to the podcast at their convenience and stay informed about what's happening at school.

My favorite multimedia formats are definitely photos and videos. If you choose to have a classroom YouTube channel, examples of things you could post on there could be drama skits, students acting out a play, singing Christmas carols, and so forth. For photos, you can also organize a class photo album online, perhaps on the classroom website or Instagram with different themes, such as first day of school, photo day, Halloween costumes, and field trips.

To use a digital newsletter or flyers this could be through a dedicated email address, a survey link, or a designated contact person at the school that can help increase engagement and make parents feel valued and connected for parents to follow through on their intentions.

If I was doing a digital newsletter, I would do it monthly, at the beginning of the month. You can reflect on what has happened in the classroom the past month, upcoming events (field trips, holidays, P.A. days), student awards, and even information nights for parents on suitable topics. Parents can have a choice of whether to receive it by e-mail, access it through the classroom website, or through social media.

Digital newsletters are the most appropriate way to keep the parents informed about various upcoming events in the school. The same can be uploaded on email, school parent app and all the social media platforms. By doing so parents are well informed and they can plan their calenders accordingly

Now technology has transferred this world into a global village. Its implimentation in education are indispensable now.These newsletter and flyers are a great source of information for parents about things going on, in schools.Ranging from students' academic performance to discipline reports ,technology encmpasses all.
