1 What is spatial data analysis?

Spatial data analysis is the process of collecting, processing, and interpreting data that has a geographic location and dimension. Imagina un mundo en donde la tecnología es un aliado de la naturaleza, un mundo convertido en mapas, graficos, modelos que guían la toma de decisiones para protección de biodiversidad y para la industría. Es en esto, donde el análisis de datos espaciales se alza como una herramienta indispensable. El ADE (Analisis de Datos Espaciales) nos permite explorar la distribución de especies, comprender los cambios en la cobertura de la tierra, predecir el impacto del cambio climatico, identificar áreas prioritarias para la conservación, evaluar la eficacia de las estrategias de manejo y dise?ar áreas protegidas mas eficientes. Pero, más allá de los numeros que si son valiosos en si, el ánalisis de datos espaciales nos permite contar historias.

The use of spatial data and its analysis is crucial to identify areas for conservation apart from other wet and dry lands during development of urban and rural Infrastructures and Cities. The satellite images will guide you through all stages of development during the conceptual and design stages of construction project where a desktop study is conducted with inception report prepared encompassing all elements required to protect the ecological environments.

I was a surprised how Conservation plays a part in the development of Military Installations. When making Environmental Constraints Maps, I have to identify wetlands, areas of species preservation, and treatment areas. There are also culturally sensitive areas such as archeological sites and cemeteries. When developing an area, it is important to know how some developments can affect the landscape and do our best to minimize the ecological damage.

Los datos espaciales son la brújula que guía la acción en la conservación. Sin embargo, convertirlos en conocimiento útil requiere análisis. Aqui vamos a hablar sobre herramientas y métodos para este viaje. En cuanto a herramientas problablemente haremos uso de software como QGIS, ArcGis o Python, de acuerdo a las condiciones de los problemas. Pero, cuando hablamos de métodos de análisis tenemos: 1. Analisis de la sensibilidad al cambio 2. Analisis de patrones espaciales 3. Analisis de multitemporalidad 4. Visualización 3D, o, 5 Análisis de riesgo. Por ejemplo, utilizando imagenes satelitales e IA, podemos identificar áreas deforestadas y patrones de tala ilegal, mas un A. de multitemporalidad identificar tendencias y áreas criticas.

Area Delineations can be one of the most important aspects of landplans designs. Spatial Analyst is great tool to develop area assignments Pre/Post (I.e. WQ, Drainage, conveyance channels, ROWs). Unfortunately I know that some small to mid-size Firms may not have the funds for these great expensive programs. Hand sketching is quicker (to be digitized later) and safe from electricity outages, Google Earth, AutoCad, Microstation, New HEC-HMS, ArcMap, ArcGIS, and 3D Software are tools that utilize Spatial analysis delineation (usually imported). MAKE SURE EVERY Firm within the contract IS ON THE SAME DATUM NO MATTER WHAT (VERY IMPORTANT)!!! Field visits helps to visualize Major site outfalls. P.S. DATUM Consistency.
