How can you use social media to showcase your brand personality and values?

Defining your brand voice is crucial for showcasing your personality and values on social media. Be intentional in identifying your tone, style, and language. Use it consistently across all platforms to build trust, loyalty, and engagement with your audience. Social media is not just a marketing tool, but a platform for authentic expression. Use it boldly to showcase who you are and what you stand for. And I am still learning!!

To define your brand voice, you should consider the following factors: The personality of your brand: Is your brand serious, playful, authoritative, or friendly? The values of your brand: What values do you want to communicate to your audience? The tone of your communication: Will you be formal, informal, or a mix of both? Your audience: What are the age, gender, and interests of your audience? What tone and style do they respond to?

Staying consistent with your content deployment in messaging and aesthetic helps solidify your brand voice and deepens the familiarity of your brand among your audience. When you deploy, confirm the clarity behind your messaging and intended reminder of why you do what you do.

It’s true not all platforms are the same and you’ll have to decide which is best for you and your brand. Depending on what you’re trying promote or share with your audience this will dictate which platform is ideal based on your target audience and personal preference. Sometimes it’s trial and error to find the one platform that out performs the other.

Facebook is an ideal platform for businesses targeting a broad audience. It is also great for building brand awareness, and engagement and driving traffic to your website. Twitter is ideal for businesses that want to engage with their audience and share real-time updates. Businesses that are looking to build brand awareness, and customer engagement, and drive website traffic can benefit from Twitter. LinkedIn is the go-to platform for B2B businesses. It is ideal for businesses that want to connect with professionals, build professional networks, and establish brand authority.

For example Linkedin is ideal for business and professional related content, meaning the posts and shares would be different that what’s posted in Facebook/ Meta. Instagram is ideal for capturing more creatives or targeted advertising. Reconfirm the content is appropriate to the platform you’re using to engage on.

This is uber important because it allows your audience and followers a template of what to expect from you. If you’re inconsistent with the type of information you share then that can cause confusion and distrust.

This is often a struggle for people, but it doesn't have to be. If you just pin point 1-3 things that consistently show up in your life offline, then you can manifest that online. Everybody has some quirk or nuance about them. For me, it was wearing Bow Ties. It became my personal brand without trying to conjure up something. Pay attention to yourself and interactions with people and you'll discover your brand consistency.

Yes!!! Without engaging in your audience how would you discover their likes and dislikes? Building trusting relationships will most definitely lead to more leads, sales and referrals.

Consistency is key to building a strong social media presence. Post regularly and at the right time when your audience is most active on social media. Use relevant hashtags to help people find your content. Limit the number of hashtags you use and make sure they are relevant to your post.

Visual storytelling is a powerful way to communicate your brand story. Use images, videos, and other visual media to help bring your story to life. Authenticity is key to building a strong brand story. Be honest, transparent, and genuine in your storytelling. Test your brand story with your target audience and refine it based on their feedback. Continuously improve your brand story to ensure it resonates with your audience.

We all have a story to tell that will hopefully resonate with your audience. Facts tell but stories sell because it’s memorable and relatable.

This is probably one of the most underutilized parts of social media, and especially on this platform. Since under 1% of people consistently create content here, collaboration is a no brainer! It either helps you get out content if it's not your thing OR it helps you deepen a relationship with someone that "gets social media". I can't recommend collaboration enough on LinkedIn!

In my opinion one of the most important rules is what I call the ‘Jesus principle’ “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This is the ‘golden rule’ of social media. I am not religious but I definitely believe is this fundamental principle and you can’t go wrong if you follow it. For example, I watched a group that was trying to do good for the community lose members because one of its organizers publicly called a member names in one of the social posts just for asking questions and stating their opinion. Honesty and transparency are all also very important when delivering your message.
