Agree with commenters saying how important this is for students. To reduce risk, schools and state agencies need to do their part to establish sensible, achievable standards and guidelines so that skills recognition is not only meaningful for students but also purposeful. State agencies also need to establish if specific training is required for teachers either teaching or evaluating skills for credit. And we need to ensure consistency in the outcome of skills education so it is also valuable and useful to employers. The more options students have to connect to their education and ultimately enter the workforce productively, the more effective our schools and our economy will be.
