D- list down the activities in detail to attain the goal and start doing it one by one . C- keep a track of the plan , monitoring it . A- take actions Incase there are modifications in the plan .

PDCA stands for Plan-Do-Check & Act is a magical cycle to solve different type of problems in both personal as well as professional life, if its essence is understood clearly. Plan : Need to have a clear Goal towards your life, which needs to be broken down into specific mid term and short term objectives. Do : Start executing or implementing these goals as per the documented targeted deadlines. Check: The desired outcome of the goals is certainly going to vary from the actual performance. These gaps needed to be analyzed for taking relevant action in future. Act : It is important to fix the gap which has been revealed in the Check phase. This includes implementation of right key measures.

Nevertheless, the process is not passive and requires an external action placed on it to move forward. The first actions are the hardest and require boldness to move and to change. Just learning a skill is not enough; one must take what the learned and put it into action, monitoring the results for potential pivots should they prove unfavorable. The action is the culmination of the why from the previous steps.

I think most of us are very familiar with PDCA cycle. One thing you must consider is only consistent to do that. There many good tools in improvement methodology such as value stream mapping, triple documents (process flow, quality, and FMEA), and so on. But so many cases that running these are not consistent yet. Up and down and blaming busyness. Same like people don't do any sport and regret when age getting old while your muscle shrink and all metabolic disease are coming to you. So be consistent, persistent, discipline to do that, then you will know the results.

To apply the PDCA cycle to improve my career development - 1. Plan: First of all, I have to set specific career goals (SMART method), identify what skills/qualifications/actions are required and create a plan to achieve them. 2. Do: Secondly, implement all my plans by actively pursuing opportunities, attending workshops/training and gaining practical experience and finally execute the actions/plans. 3. Check: Regularly assess my progress, my achievements, challenges that I've faced. 4. Act: Finally, based on my assessment, I've to modify my plans or strategies if required and then again execute the refined plans.
