Case studies are one of the best ways to understand the story behind the product origin and what kind of encryptions have they implemented. The challenging part is, how they communicated that value of secured communication with users. Does a 256 bit encryption sound safe to a normal user? or "What happens in iPhone stays on iPhone?" gives more trust? Marketing is also one of the important aspects when developing a secured communication product.

Apart from the common ideas, being able to innovate it will be good for technology teams to come up with ideas to classify the risk level of data, and applications will help to identify and act upon areas of high risk versus low risk. Setting up processes based on classification of data will provide clear guidelines and have an action plan in case of a breach.
