This is such a fine line. I’ve felt the cringe of someone over doing it. I’ve probably been too entertained by myself where others were lost. Poking fun at the obvious, company culture—good routes. Self deprecation works to a point but can quickly feel patronizing, and is a bit of a trap for women when they need to be clear about their value and the credit they deserve, but also charming and non-threatening. Be authentically you. Enjoy what you do. Don’t be afraid to let your appropriate humor out. Laugh out loud. Admit when you do something dumb, say something wrong. I went to the wrong venue once, and when I finally arrived at the right venue, I told on myself to the audience. Shrug. Laugh. Now here’s my expertise.
