I've learnt to use "I feel...", instead of using "You made me feel...." This avoids the triggering of emotions on both ends.
Now you could go and cut those roots, thus potentially destroying whatever is growing on the underside of your fence from your neighbor's yard. Or, you can acknowledge why you're angry and consider what is really making you angry. You don't know yet why those roots are growing on your side of the fence. All you know is you're mad. Again, step back and consider why you're angry.
