1 Choose the right platform

Breakout rooms are a great way to connect smaller groups, which allows them to interact with each other and share experiences and ideas. The downside is the requirement for additional training personnel if you have large groups that you need to handle. Of course adequate prep prior to the session is a great way to save on time during the session. Important to also think through the platforms being used, whether Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams etc. and the functionalities, audience handling capacity etc. A trainer's job is hard because they need to focus on multiple logistics, session and audience simultaneously. Steps to follow: Plan, prepare, execute, facilitate, monitor, provoke thoughts and ideas, collate information and feedback.

2 Design your group activities

Once you have chosen your platform, you need to design your group activities carefully. Think about the objectives, outcomes, and format of each activity, and how they align with your workshop content and goals. Some examples of group activities are brainstorming, role-playing, case studies, problem-solving, and peer feedback. Conducting an activity is fun for both the trainer and the attendees but getting back the audience to the main goal of the session by debriefing it clearly. The motive of the activities is to make the takeaways easily understandable, a clear debriefing of activities saves a lot of time, energy and it facilitates for a fun learning path.

for simplicity, create Zoom or Google Meet rooms with key leaders and record the sessions. the key host of the Zoom rooms but allows interactions and participants to share their screens. more so virtual groups should be done in times where they are not destructed
