En mi opinión, en estos tiempos la escucha activa es una práctica de dificil adopción pues además de existir muchas distracciones, no siempre resulta a primera "aceptar" el ritmo con que otras personas transmiten un mensaje. En este sentido, la escucha activa debe ser una práctica conciente y preparada, en un entorno ad hoc. Esto no siempre será posible por lo que hay que reservar la escucha activa para cuando estimamos que realmente será posible realizarla.
