How can you tell if a database development course is credible?

Along with what Jerry H. has posted, I'll also caution that even experienced people don't always do it right or are missing some critical knowledge. This also holds true with all "BBFAATT" (pronounced as "bee-bee-fat and is a "Moden-ism" for "Books, Blogs, Forums, Articles, AI, Talks, and 'Tubes"). The hard part is, if you don't know what's right or wrong, it's virtually impossible to make the correct evaluation. Supposed "Best Practices" that are widely publicized are frequently not actually a "Best Practice" and are frequently a "Worst Practice". It's just enough people have repeated the same mistake and it became gospel. Be careful out there, folks. And, yep... I'm also a victim that has learned from such mistakes.

To determine the credibility of a database development course, check for accreditation, instructor qualifications, a comprehensive curriculum, positive reviews, industry recognition, appropriate course duration, and access to resources. Consider the cost in relation to other courses and the availability of a recognized certification. Research alumni success stories and assess the course's online presence. As with all courses you have to trust the instructors and the curriculum they devise. By definition you don't what it should be. Any thing therefore that suggests you can know whether a course is good or bad is just wrong. Compare the course content in broad terms with other courses. Pretty soon you will understand what it should contain. This is true for all subjects. For databases I would be looking for the relational model, data modelling, set theory, inter-process communication, and a few other things. SQL and cousins at the bottom of the list. This is implementation (important) but the last thing you need until you understand the principles.

I have found, a lot, that people don't actually know how to check the instructor's "credentials". Proverbial "Time in Service" and public popularity are simply not enough. You have to "Test the material they teach". I've found a great many instructors either don't know how to teach or they don't actually know what they're teaching well enough. A simple example is to do a Google search for how to combine a DATE and TIME datatyped columns. Try the formulas some of them provide with a date of 2022-12-31 and a time of 23:59:59.999 and see what I mean and also realize the other "edge cases" that will suffer such similar rounding up errors. How many times will their formula provide the incorrect answer? It only takes once to be wrong.

The instructor is first factor to say that the course is good. But the credentials aren't everything, not all credentials are approved for educating something. Electing instructor depending on their knowledge and experience which become from real achievement projects, self confidence, how they introduce the material of the topic, the simplicity of the course which depends on it's level(begginer, middle, advance),others students recommendation,vote's..etc Not All instructor have portfolio or website so does we must say they're not good I think that is wrong. Every one can teach any thing but only the experts can make the course have more valuable to others and just recipients detects the valuable. Finally the value is the measurement.

The proof of the pudding is really does it work, and that means does it collect and report data in the required way. There are many templates that will half do the job for you but it must deliver according to the specs

A rigid course doesn't mean it's less credible, what's more important is that you learn from it and it includes the underlying tools you need to reinforce what you're learning
