How can you be a team player in Data Engineering?

Communication is the cornerstone of any successful team, and in data engineering, where projects often involve complex data pipelines and intricate systems, it's even more critical. From my perspective, effective communication means being clear, concise, and transparent with your team about progress, challenges, and expectations. It's not just about talking; it's equally about listening. Being open to feedback and different viewpoints can lead to innovative solutions and a more cohesive team environment.

Share your ideas, listen actively, and provide clear, concise communication to technical and non-technical audiences. Don't shy away from asking questions and seeking clarification – open communication fosters trust and avoids misunderstandings.

1)You can be technically anything, simply shed off you ego and mental complexities. 2)Listen like a child and critically analyse things. 3)While communicating, reflect upon things from the recipient end. 4)Not every conversation needs to happen in war room, some learnings can happen over a cup of coffee too. 5) Don't judge peoples idea based on number of years of experience. Be open to everyone's ideas and non hesitant to share yours. 6) Keep an evergreen professional network. 7)Talk to folks on other side of the house(business stakeholders), understand their problems, propose ways of resolution. 8)Believe that,its not only the Data Engineering role thats doing everything, there are other roles that equally plays their part.

Sometimes within the technical teams, this is one of the parts that is least worked on and any Senior person could correct me but definitely effectiveness in communication is absolutely key for our role, now. that the products we create rest completely on the truth of the data and to find this truth it is necessary to understand, communicate and validate the different perspectives at the business level in relation to the project we are working on

La documentación que muchas veces se encuentra en este campo peca de hacer asunciones que bien pueden no cumplirse para el usuario más básico. Haciendo documentación que explique desde el nivel más básico, se consigue que más gente use tu herramienta y, consecuentemente, que se genere más conocimiento en el campo. Hablando desde la experiencia, aún recuerdo cuando se me hacía un mundo cuando se mencionaba la necesidad de emplear CUDA para entrenamiento de redes neuronales, y ahora mismo es parte de mi rutina. En aquél momento, habría agradecido que se explicasen cosas tan básicas o bien me remitieran a donde encontrar la información, cosa básica pero que muchas veces no se da.
