The enemy of their enemy is their friend. Find out what challenges your colleague is facing. One of the best accelerants in building rapport and trust is a shared grievance. These could include: ?? Heavy workload ??? Demanding schedule ?????? Critical parents ???? Rude colleagues ???? Challenging students ?? Anything at all: it really doesn’t matter. It’s down to the person you’re working with. Don’t judge them, be glad that they trust you enough to vent. Although it seems negative, establishing a common challenge allows for humour, empathy, trust, motivation, resilience and collective achievement. Be a great ally and confidante, and all “enemies” will fall before you both.
