How can you support teachers' professional growth through relationship building?

As leaders we can facilitate collaboration by hosting online communities for teachers to exchange best practices. Also we can organise and co-lead professional development workshops, support peer coaching, and act as a virtual mentor. For personalized feedback, I analyze student data, recommend learning pathways, and provide automated feedback on written work. To build a positive environment, I create safe spaces for discussion, facilitate social interactions, and recognize teachers' achievements. While I complement existing structures, we can also create human interaction and mentorship, aiming to empower teachers in their professional growth.

Encourage mentorship, foster collaborative environments, and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Facilitate regular feedback sessions, promote a positive school culture, and offer resources for continuous learning.

One of the biggest challenges I see in this area is when listening to staff, responses to their concerns can sometimes turn into justifications. Whether it be student behaviour or teaching new content, it's important to recognise that not everything we do works. Listening to staff can help us as leaders to take a step back, re-evaluate how we operate, and develop now methods that may be more successful in schools.

Supporting teachers' professional growth hinges on strong relationship building. Fostering an environment of trust by actively listening to teachers' needs and aspirations. Provide targeted professional development opportunities aligned with individual goals, and encourage a sense of ownership in their growth journey. Establish mentorship programs, facilitating peer-to-peer learning and collaboration. Recognize and celebrate achievements, reinforcing a positive and supportive culture. Regular check-ins, constructive feedback, and personalized support build a foundation where teachers feel valued and empowered, ultimately enhancing their professional growth.

One thing teachers appreciate is a sense of teaching community outside their own school. Not only does it provide perspective but adds a growth component. Addressing work needs builds strength, practical strategies and tips to share with colleagues at the school level. School leaders' support for outside learning communities is critical.

With teachers I find that the process of instructional coaching is vital to improve teaching practice. The notion of "one off" observations is surely outdated, and thus it is vital to focus on frequent feedback that helps move teaching and learning forward.

Feedback is a gift. But only when it is genuinely given.Some feedbacks can help motivate your teachers or break them.Words when not correctly relayed can be distaughted .

There is no doubt that effective feedback is of upmost importance in every classroom in the world. Yet, when it comes down to giving it yo our recipients in order to make it significant, sometimes we tend to fall short. One of the things that has significantly improved my students' performance is taking time to tailor every feedback for them to make sense of it. I know this is really difficult when you face larger classes, but if your class allows you to do so, you should always make an effort to provide personalized feedback. The benefits of this are plenty, as it shows that you care about their, as well as their individual self, pushing them to achieve an even better version of their previous self.

We need to offer regular, timely, and constructive feedback to teachers, recognizing their strengths and accomplishments and providing guidance for improvement when necessary. Specific and actionable suggestions will lead to growth.

Building relationships is about building trust. One way to do this is to be authentic with your colleagues. This year, I set an intention to notice and name 5 things that I admire about my colleagues. I reflected and journaled about it. I feel that my requests to collaborate were well received because my team knew that my compliments were genuine.

A genuine collaborative approach within educational teams, undermined by mutual respect, integrity and collegial care, is fundamental to teacher wellbeing and organisational success. Moreover, the most impactful (and the most expensive!) asset any educational institution has at its disposal is its staff body. These are often a treasure trove of experience, knowledge and insight. When this asset is afforded the opportunity to work together to aid student experience and outcomes, the sky is the limit for what can be achieved!

By holding frequent meetings, forming peer learning groups, and sharing materials, you may foster teacher cooperation. Establish a culture of trust and openness to facilitate the sharing of knowledge. Establish mentorship programs to offer assistance. In order to reaffirm the importance of peer learning and foster a dynamic, encouraging atmosphere that supports teachers' professional development, acknowledge and celebrate collaborative accomplishments.

Peer learning is really important for certain subjects related to the project. To build a great teamwork, they cannot only do one activity at one time.. They need to always do the activities together,such as presentation, discussion,visit and report writing.. To empower their teams and get well blended with their teammates. This is what I did in my class to ensure each of the students have good relationships with their teammates,and can work together. I will make sure they assign teams accordingly.

As leaders, our role is to provide an environment that encourages and supports peer collaboration and development. Start with highlighting best practices during staff meetings/PD and ask for elaboration on the practice. Create an atmosphere where peers regularly work and learn from each other. Provide scaffolding for peer observations and takeaways, release time for visiting each other’s classrooms, time and structure for teachers to share successful practices and common planning time.

Whilst I agree that recognising and celebrating achievements is vital, it is important not to overdo these. If teachers see these as happening whatever success is achieved then they are devalued.

Believe it or not, you are a referent for your students, and that could be positive or negative. As masterfully said by the late Rita Pierson in her TED Talk, "students don't learn from people they don't like". You not only have to work in order to become a positive reference for students, but in my experience, you need to work on showing them your excellence every day. Some key aspects in which you can imprint your support and excellence to them is by: Being empathic but responsibly firm on decisions and rules. Giving careful and personalized feedback whenever possible. Bringing new experiences with technology and innovating in your methodology constantly. Showing that you care, or as Rita said, becoming a Champion for every one of them.

The most valuable way to build relationships and support change is to learn along with your teachers. Identify common areas for growth and participate in professional learning with your faculty. Demonstrate your learning and put into practice your new skills in the classroom, faculty meetings, and professional development sessions. Identify personal areas for growth, share your targets with your faculty, and talk about what you are learning and how you will implement new skills. Discuss, individually, with your teachers areas for growth and how they want to achieve that growth. Support them with time, resources, and coaching.

In my experience as a special needs parent, the relationship I have with my child’s teacher is a key element to success. The same way we bring therapy into our practices at home we want to continue the learning from school at home too. The same way I try to help the teacher help me, I hope they help us parents help them make the learning journey a smooth one. For sure not all parents have the same approach, but be on the look out for thes of us that do.

In my experience, modeling self-development and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) has had a great impact on other teachers. I model and emphasize the importance of lifelong learning and CPD. I try to show my commitment to my own growth and improvement, and encourage teachers to do the same.
