We can switch the career towards data science by buliding basic foundations through joining bootcamps and starting online courses on Python, SQL and machine learning and getting certifications.If we've have statistical and mathematical background then it'll be be a plus.

The fundamentals are very important, but in my experience I would also give you these 3 Tips (if you accept them??) to accelerate?? your good results within a company: 1. Focus on Statistics, data does not lie, let your results always be based on irrefutable statistical data. 2. Create good Storytelling, our business colleagues should not know how we have formulated our code or calculations. Focus on results and benefits. 3. Look first for benefits that require 20% effort with 80% results. You will have a guaranteed % of success!???

In my experience, data science practitioners are diverse and very willing to share experience and ideas across industries and geographies. Find good content creators who openly post about real projects, cautions, mistakes, code etc. Try Kaggle competitions and don't be afraid to ask for help and advice!

The world of Data Science is very new and therefore we have a lot of uncertainty! ?? We have a very promising horizon and future, Big Data, A.I, Machine Learning etc. So in the Data community we really enjoy discoveries, projects and news. Look for these open and egoless communities, willing to deliver value and... Participate in them! ??

Switching career to data science is the same as any other field - assess your skills, identify top areas of progress (& research), define the gaps in your knowledge (This is your "skills backlog"). Then learn, practice, demonstrate. We truly really learn when we demonstrate & teach others. Rinse & repeat.

Do it before 50, even before 40. In the later age you should try to explain that you are real data scientist, not too old for this position.

My story ?? , at 39 years old I left my job. With my track record broken by leaving the tech sector to be able to pay bills for many years (act of family responsibility). ??
