I find being an administrator I have to be an expert in all areas so I think that one area that all administrators need a skill in is project management

Always present yourself professionally, in everything you do as an Administrative Assistant. This is one profession where one has to be at an all time high from your dressing, deliverables, conduct.

As an administrative assistant, you should never stop learning or developing yourself because there are several new ways of doing the old things that bring about efficiency, and being efficient makes you stand out.

An admin assistant is not only a person who merely provide administrative support but a project manager supporting the entire team or the organisation to function effectively. They eed many skills like budgeting, time management, team building, vendor management etc. they need to constantly update themselves with the latest technologies and be proactive in understanding the needs of the team

Ask questions and pay attention to how other people do tasks that may be adapted to your work functions. If you see someone do something and they won't tell you search the Internet and play around on whatever package until you find it. Little inconsequential things to others could save you hours every week (ctrl + ; is the best excel shortcut ever)

As an administrative assistant in the company, you should never stop learning, especially if you have a new task or work. And you need to be aware of all your obligations inside the company. Be attentive, work hard, have goals as an administrative assistant, and finish your task on time. Gain more experience and knowledge about your work environment. Because at the end of the day, it will help you a lot. You will grow more.

Seek feedback and mentorship.One of the best ways to grow as an administrative assistant is to seek feedback and mentorship from your supervisors, colleagues, and peers. You should ask for constructive feedback on your performance and areas of improvement. You should also seek mentorship from experienced administrative assistants who can offer you guidance, advice, and support. You can also join professional networks and associations for administrative assistants to expand your connections and learn from others.

Showcase your technical proficiency. Stay updated with the latest office software and tools. Proficiency in programs like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software can be highly valuable. Seek opportunities to learn new skills and technologies that are relevant to your role.

Learning, communication, training, understanding, record keeping and thinking out of the box are the key factor of all the position. So as in administration all this elements used as tool to develop your skill in day to today working life.

Basic advice: Be willing to and capable of cooping to changes and ad hoc situations of any kind. Be the backbone to all processes that you are involved in, and always keep an open mind to new tasks, big og small. You are the “partner in crime” to your leader, and (s)he depends on your administrative skills and as a sparring partner.

Definitely save samples of your work and build up a portfolio. Put together a "brag sheet" at least yearly, to list out your major accomplishments. Step outside or your comfort zone, to lead a new project or create a new process. Lead a training to teach something you know well to your department or team. And keep good documentation of your progress and any certifications you've received along the way.

Networking and communicating is probably one of my favorite things as a person who tends to overshare. I just believe in being my whole self and that means being honest about the things that have been apart of your journey, that includes the good and the bad. Networking across your network can help you build relationships authentically by shared interest or possibly helping you enter in a field you're interested in.

Being proactive and taking initiatives, good leadership skills, communicate properly with all manner of people and a team player. Build relationships ,know your goals, seek knowledge and always look for ways of advancing your carrier and discover many opportunities. Always learn about your environment, make better connections of networking. above all know the mission statement and vision of the organization.

Take the leadership in communicating better which will help team perform better. Take that step ahead if you have new insights that could help. Present your ideas.

Networking and communicating are crucial actions and an important skill. I have come to recognize their significant benefits, particularly in the past year, hearing stories within networking communities. So much so that I am very excited that with another assistant in our local law enforcement area, we created a law enforcement assistant network, and I look forward to seeing how this group will foster support and mutual promotion among its members. Networking and communication are indispensable for establishing meaningful relationships, forging partnerships, and collaborating towards a more promising future.

Do all the free course development that you can. Take notes, go to the free business development panels they offer via Linkedin or your company's own culture and network set up. Developing yourself behind the scenes and then using that insight to level up your current job description is genius and I hope more people consider it. Sometimes words aren't enough and thoughtful action is necessary.

Be proactive and take initiative. Don't wait for your boss to tell you what to do. Anticipate their needs and take steps to meet them before they even ask. Be organized and efficient. Keep track of your tasks and deadlines, and be able to prioritize and manage your time effectively. Be a problem solver. Don't be afraid to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to problems. Be a team player. Be willing to help out your colleagues and be supportive of the team's goals.

This is the best thing you can do for your career. Always strive to learn and grab different opportunities. If someone needs a backup - learn that job and become the backup. A new software -learn it. Always go above and beyond. Get noticed and succeed!
