Baby steps! This is relatively easy to get into but very challenging to make progress. Volunteer for the biggest ones - they all recruit volunteers, do a fantastic job & network as much as possible with all people with roles that could secure you a spot at the next event they're working on. You will find yourself being paid for gigs. The best job won't be advertised, but got through your network. I recommend getting close to everything that happens on and behind the stage as a good place to focus on, as this will be the most closely connected with the decision making people versus food&beverage, access management & crowd control.

One of the best things I ever did for my career was to work for non-profits. Because they often have smaller teams, you have the opportunity to learn more and help in a variety of ways. This has helped me have an incredibly well rounded set of skills. It has also allowed for a lot of opportunity for growth and upward mobility that many for profit organizations don't allow for due to the more structured/corporate silos.
