How can you show your passion for Systems Design?

To design effective and scalable systems, having a solid grasp of fundamental concepts and principles of systems design is crucial. This requires reading, studying existing systems, and being familiar with common tools and frameworks and practicing it.

You need to understand the main purpose and the main feature or problem to solve with the system. At the same time see the big picture and the needed development for the future to not limit the system.

when I start To design a new system I always start with a local compose file with a basic container like: Redis MongoDb elasticsearch and nginx proxy this can help me to design and plan a best solution for a customer.

To design anything with best and optimal solution first thing you need to do is to grasp and masters the fundamentals like if you want to design effective and scalable systems first familiar with common tools like UML , ERD etc and then after use and test all these on different system and master them.

Okay, let's start an exciting adventure into the realm of system design! Imagine system design as constructing a vast and awesome city made of Legos. Monolithic v/s Microservices - Decide whether to construct your city in little segments (microservices) or as a single, large structure (monolithic) Vertical and Horizontal Scaling: Picture your Lego city becoming more populated, requiring additional space. Vertical scaling is akin to making your buildings higher, whereas horizontal scaling involves placing new buildings alongside the existing ones. Consistent Hashing: Consider it a clever method for determining which structure in your city will store a Lego person.

Reading and following opensource systems and documentations can help a lot as most of the highly efficient systems/ engineering teams have published the system design paper on their architecture and system flow. It can give you a lot of valuable insights and things to consider once you start your critical system design.

In my experience, many prominent organisations have their engineering blogs which are full of challenges and how they tackled it by a design. Just going through these articles will empower you to understand more systems and at a deeper scale. Majority of learning resources offer same content. So in order to have the updated knowledge and standout in the learning you can refer those engineering blogs.

I like to watch the Netflix system design in YouTube it’s really helps me to think on how to think big. they talking about key concepts like Cassandra database and micro services how to manage cash how to work with buckets, database design, and cluster management . the backend it’s really brilliant it’s written in Golang (my favorite language).
