How can you show initiative in your Mobile Applications work?

Mobile app development is evolving rapidly. Keeping the pace with it can be challenging. Instead of learning all the things one can focus on the feature / technology which could actually benefit the users, company & developers as well. Some of the features which I found quite promising is * Dynamic Delivery of Feature Modules (android) * Downloadable Fonts (android) * React-Native JSI Some features in our app are not required immediately we can deliver them on demand. This will reduce the initial app download size. Active involvement in tech blogs, events & an eye on the official release / documentation / talk could be a way to enhance the knowledge & acquire new skills.

Actively seek opportunities to acquire new skills relevant to mobile application development. Stay updated with the latest technologies, programming languages, and frameworks.

Working in React Native means constant learning, during my career I had few major changes, that reorganised my work, for example moving from javascript to typescript, or using hooks and functions instead of classes. Keeping up with all the changes in your ecosystem is a must to be in the top of developers. Everyday I check what's new and how it might affect my skills.

Proactivity in app development is essential for standing out. Seek continuous updates on trends and advancements in technology. Propose ideas during team meetings and take on responsibilities to enhance project quality. Taking initiatives in problem-solving is also an excellent way to distinguish oneself.

Contribute to open-source projects: Gain experience with different codebases and learn from other developers. Participate in hackathons: Challenge yourself to build an app within a limited timeframe, fostering creativity and adaptability.

What triggers me the most? Something is boring and long to implement. It means that there is a place to innovate. Instead of mindlessly coding, I go to research and thing about new ways to do that. Using this approach you can spend a day or two, but later you implement something in an hour or less.

Take on challenging tasks or projects that push your boundaries and contribute to your professional development. Volunteer for complex or high-priority projects within the team. Express interest in solving challenging technical issues individually and team.

Mentor junior developers: Guide and support colleagues to develop their skills, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Present your work at team meetings or conferences: Sharing your knowledge showcases your understanding and passion for mobile applications.

Asking for feedback is a skip to easily bypass. But taking the time to access the lessons learns and improve the process is key to bettering yourself and the experience.

Seek feedback from peers, superiors, or users to understand areas for improvement and to validate your work. Ask questions and engage in discussions with other developers to gain different perspectives and insights.

I see a lot of value when a dev proposes to perform a refactoring on some part of the code that is not so good. Often the deadline for developing a feature, or the urgency of resolving a bugfix cannot be met due to the quality of the code implemented in the scope to be worked on. Refactorings are quality exercises, they demonstrate your potential to develop better and cleaner code than what is found today, it is generally a more arduous process than developing something new (which is why it is not common to see this proactivity around), and also above all, it improves your work environment and that of your colleagues.
