It’s known as a Port 9100 attack on default printer port if exposed on the Internet WAN. The common tool to exploit it is known as PRET - Printer Exploitation tool as of 2017 there are 48,213 exposed Printer IP Addresses now cut that just by a third or half or any slices you want listening on Port 9100 / other ports and even more to printers vulnerable using Shodan Dork using the ShodanEye tool sudo shodan search port:9100 pjl sudo Shodan search port:9100 pcl Then you see about thousands and more with closed port 80 browser configuration pages, it is concerning since many considers this out of scope yet there are some very sensitive pdf files saved exposed printers in several universities but no it’s not sophisticated enough!
