If you have PNG assets you can use PNGGauntlet to compress them a lot. And I mean a lot without losing quality. Its what I did to optimize my assets for a game I was going to launch on Google Play Store. For 3D assets too you can try compressing your PNG textures although I have never tried it myself. Use Audacity to compress sound files.

I have found that DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) works very well when you are working on games. Even if you are using a language that allows you to write spaghetti code do not do it. If you write spaghetti code your current game might work but the engine/template that you will develop for your current game will not be usable in your next game. And of course, DRY will reduce your file size.

Avoid unnecessary CGI and cutscenes. They will cost you more to make and many times it happens that all a CGI/cutscene does it annoy the players and increase your filesize. JRPGs are especially notorious for doing this. There is also a marketing trick that says that make your filesize for the game very big intentionally because big filesize will justify big cost. But this really harms the user and if you are new to the industry you will not be able to gain trust with the users if your filesizes are unnecessarily huge.
