The objective of a data literacy training should be to enable the student to be able to take better number based decisions or data tools' usage in his/her current job. So defining the outcome is equivalent to define a metric or measure to check the person indeed improved their skillset. I would be probably unpopular but this means designing a test (even 'light touch') after the training to check its effectiveness.

Invest in a personalised program for your team to avoid -The Cost of Neglecting Context. Neglecting the context of data can have substantial consequences. An example from a global retailer illustrates this. Their analytics team discovered disparities in sales volume and employee turnover across retail locations. However, the initial analysis missed the context: the significant spike in turnover during the summer season due to contingent workers. Understanding context is vital for meaningful data analysis. Off the shelf programs do not address this very well. I often work on creating customised, re-usable programs for large corporates and have seen that the success in people using the new skills is 50% higher than off-the- shelf programs.
