How can you prepare for a successful career transition to partnership?

So dislike 'transition' as my question is (1) did you get an offer, or (2) are you trying to get an offer? Remember a couple of things. Partners have to SELL. That's why they are partners. If you can't do it, or don't want to, then better reconsider. Also, you will give up a lot of freedom, and are also taking risks. Just discussing the people who worked at Arthur Andersen after Enron. Rightfully, Building a partner program is often compared to being an entrepreneur inside a larger organization. It is important to have strong and clear opinions, but being organized and working cross-functionally is generally the difference between success and failure. Some examples of these could be: - Why your skills are relevant/transferable - Explain your belief in the importance of partnerships and collaboration - Your vision for the program or partnerships overall - Feedback on the partner program (if applicable) - Your career goals (Manage, Continue to sell as a great IC, etc) Having a clear goal and message for the interview that you can consistently reference throughout your conversations will create a much stronger interview environment.

Most of us didn't aspire to be in partnerships from the start, but we've harnessed the potential of relationships to shape our careers. If you're transitioning from a CS background, recruiters might be hesitant due to your limited sales experience, or the opposite for AE professionals. Shift the dialogue to highlight that both roles share the common objective of cultivating enduring relationships and aiding end clients, underscoring the commonalities rather than differences.
