Esto no se puede pensar de forma genérica, sino que deberás evaluarlo en cada empresa donde quieras postularte. Por ejemplo, no es lo mismo una industria química que una metal-mecánica, o una con muchos procesos manuales que otra totalmente automatizada. Trata de adaptar tus habilidades y competencias a cada una de ellas. Generalmente una habilidad muy valorada es la capacidad de transmitir, empatizar y liderar. Ser criterioso debiera ser un requisito inevitable para el puesto.

3 Prepare the STAR stories

The most effective way to answer behavioral questions is to use the STAR technique, which stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result. This technique helps you to structure your answers in a clear and logical way, and to demonstrate how you applied your QM skills and competencies in specific situations. To prepare your STAR stories, you should recall past or present QM experiences that demonstrate your skills and competencies. Then, describe the situation or context of the example, such as the problem or challenge. Explain the task or responsibility that you had or took on in relation to the situation. Describe the action or steps that you took to perform the task or address the situation; focus on your own contribution and role, and use QM terminology and tools where appropriate. Lastly, explain the result or outcome of your action; quantify it if possible, and highlight the skills and competencies that you demonstrated.

While using an example in which you did not meet expected goals is risky, I always appreciate hearing a candidate's response when they are able to articulate what they learned, what they would have done differently, and how this particular failure changed their process or mindset. Using those follow up questions to any behavioral based scenario can also push a candidate to reveal their propensity for self-reflection, unbiased feedback, and continuous improvement or growth mindset.

4 Practice and refine your answers

Before the interview, you should practice and refine your answers. Writing down your STAR stories and reviewing them for clarity, relevance, and completeness is a great way to start. Then, practice your answers out loud or with a friend or coach to get feedback and suggestions. Make sure your answers are not too long or too short; one to three minutes is a good guideline. Anticipate the follow-up questions the interviewer might ask, such as "What did you learn from this experience?" or "How would you handle this situation differently?" and prepare your responses. Remember to be confident, honest, and positive in your answers, while showing enthusiasm and interest in QM and the organization.
