How can you optimize AR/VR user training and support?

Because of the wide range of platforms available to the learning and development professional it's important to spend time comparing the features and benefits of an AR/VR solution to the needs of the key stakeholders and ultimate consumers of learning. I have found that the most important question to ask is: Does this need to be in AR/VR, or am I trying to make something cool for the sake of it? When you align the delivery method or platform to the needs of the stakeholders (including learners) you mitigate the risk of developing something that rides the hype train but doesn't deliver on the learning.

This should be obvious by now in my opinion - the diaspora of technology alone predicates designers considering how a wide range of users will interact with their learning, even in environments where the audience is captive (think corporate learners where devices and access tend to be homogenous). Adopting a human centered design approach will go a long way to designing for accessibility as well, put yourself in the shoes of the older generation of learners, then in the shoes of the younger. Determining how you are going to make sure both of these groups can effectively use your technologically marvelous learning is an essential part of your design methodology.

One of the things, I know is that there is always space for designing in VR accessibility. The user experience design for accessibility generally requires lot more attention and awareness. (which is a good thing) So. AR/VR content can be something that offers more flexibility. ( At least in my opinion) Because the abilities of each individual can be experience in different forms. For example; A person who blind, can put a VR headset on experience audio movie more lively. The individual can also learn to interact with others socially without physically moving around carrying a walking cane to help navigate with their surroundings. Instead, speaking into the headset to virtually teleported. Its a way design for accessibility.

I think that engagement has to start at the design phase, you need to capture the buy in of your stakeholders and learners early in the piece - especially if you plan on rolling out new tech like AR/VR. You can have all the collaborative features you like, but if you fail to capture the hearts and minds before you roll out a solution it is very likely to fail. In part I think that this is due to a resistance or reticence to engage with technologies that are seen as challenging or too new, especially by learners who are already entrenched in "the way things have always been done". You need to convince stakeholders that this new and exciting technology is actually going to be useful and applicable.

To make AR/VR training and support better, we can use clear instructions and easy-to-follow steps. Creating interactive tutorials that guide users through the process can be helpful. Also, having a support team available for any questions or issues can make the experience smoother. Using visuals and diagrams can aid understanding, and having troubleshooting guides handy can solve common problems quickly. These steps can ensure that users feel supported and confident when using AR/VR technology.
