Hmmmm, I think most animators I know wouldn't ever make it out to a "networking event" - you might meet some biz dev people, a boss or maybe an animation producer or two. So focus on networking with those if you want some work!

I haven’t read other answers, so apologies for repeats, but here’s my 2 cents. - Be active on social networks they hang out on- LinkedIn, Twitter, threads, IG, Slack/Discord communities - Go to industry conference - Camp Mograph, Dash Bash, NAB, Siggraph. If you can’t got to the events try to attend the after parties. - Find local groups that serve the industry. This can be guilds, or even just local meetups where these sorts of people hang out. If you can’t find a local meetup, start one yourself- you’d be surprised how well that can go. ?? - Put on your sales hat and go dig up some emails for the people you’re trying to connect with, do some research on the person you want to contact, and go the ol’ fashioned cold email outreach route.

There is nothing like meeting people in person, whichever digital event, workshop, space cowboys community can't stand real human interactions. I ll try to be at OFFF BCN again this y. Met amazing ppl in 2023, and then, yes, online stuff makes more sense. Humans first.

And it also works the opposite way! As an animator, the more studios you'll be in contact with, the bigger your chances are to participate in new projects and evolve through the many experiences you'll have working with different teams.

Durch Erstellung von eigene Projekte kann man viel lernen. Am besten erst mal mit kleine Projekte anfangen und dann immer weiter mit neuen Projekten weitermachen, wo man mehr gefordert wird, dadurch lernt man die Software und neue Funktionen.

They are inspired by the fact that we are a purpose led company, all about people and planet - and the clients we work with reflect that. There are a lot of VFX studios that do advertising & hire animators, they may move from studio to studio depending on the needs of the work. You end up meeting a lot of people along the way. It's important to always treat people well & with respect because you're always networking in the animation industry. Every job you take you're making new connections and building more relationships. These can lead to new projects, new opportunities for you or for them! Always treat people well, with kindness and respect. Make it a priority to get to know the people you work with, remember, their name, unique things about them, fun things etc. Everyone likes to be remembered!!

Don't be shy. Join communities, ask questions and offer help to others. No one is an expert in everything. Be generous with your time and knowledge to those who are in need. People won't forget who helped them along the way. It's easy to build a reputation as a knowledgeable resource and good human. It not only feels good, but it has a real and meaningful impact on our industry. Animation is an ever-changing medium, so there's always something to learn. Stay sharp, humble, and helpful!

In any collaborative environment you should always have the mindset of, "I might be working on this current job, but I'm always working on getting the next job. " Meaning not just explore networking opportunities around you, but consider that, who and what is right in front of you, might "Be" the next job.

Social engagement is a form of currency in a way. It’s valuable to receive it but also spend it to create a working social economy. Engage with artists, if you have some experience under your belt it is always valuable to give back and advise those trying to break into the industry. Be involved and genuine and active and you will see the community respond in kind.

You network with animators in advertising the same way as you network with any other group of professionals. Step 1. Figure out where they're hanging out. Both online and offline. Step 2. Start hanging out in those places. Start talking to people. Be genuine. Be yourself. Your portfolio and everything is important, but your personality is more important than anything else. Be sure to contribute and help wherever you can, without any expectations of direct or immediate returns. Step 3. Keep hanging and keep interacting till strangers turn into acquaintances, and acquaintances turn into friends. Step 4. You'll be an insider before you know it. Enjoy!

Now, I once mistook a motion graphics artist for a ninja due to their stealthy moves in After Effects. Lesson learned: Animators are the real digital ninjas. Find them where they lurk in animation communities and forums. ???? friend of mine thought GIFs were just funny internet pictures. Little did he know, they're the secret handshake of the animation realm. Learn the GIF lingo it's like unlocking the animator's treasure chest. ???? So, be where the animators are, speak their language (GIFs included), and showcase your enthusiasm for the art.

As far as communities go, there are always chance for collaboration, try participating in some of those, because sometimes it cat be the ones that will boost your portfolio if published on same site. Mine example is collaborative project that revokes activity in my old behance portfolio few times in the month since 2018 :)
