This is actually an art and a science. Having been on both sides, my experience tells me that I need to scan the room / place for people who you dont know and would love to connect with. Keep your focus on the purpose for your connect. Keep a short pitch ready 30 seconds to a minute is enough. Decide on a strategy to engage, avoid spreading too thin. I generally carry 10-15 Business Cards, knowing well that it helps maintain focus and engage appropriately. Truly I completely agree with all the above mentioned, you need to be pro active and always ready to take the first mover advantage by recognizing persons and initiating talk with them via any of the ways, be it on some interest area, professional work, leisure activities. Engage yourself in all the communications and contribute your thoughts so that you have a place among your peers that will help you build relations.

Before attending any event, research well and advance and be selective with the people you are interacting as quality always matters over quantity.

Consider: - your time is limited, if you're BD for DeFi, don't spend all your time with NFT guys, make sure you're hitting the events and talks that are relevant to your purpose there - focus on quality, having 5-10 meaningful conversations is better than getting 30 contacts that are irrelevant and not memorable - 100% avoid being the guy that walks up to people and says " Hi my name is Joey, nice to meet you..so what do you do? " This is the most hated one liner ever. Ease into the intro, ask about where a person comes from, if they like the city, etc before jumping into "so what do you do?"

Toda vez que hiciste contacto con las personas de tu interés, debes tener ya una estrategia de seguimiento que puede ser por 2 vías, de manera directa y personal con los prospectos de más interés con un whatsapp de agradecimiento, una invitación a conectar por otras redes o una cita y otra con campa?as de emails programados. En mi experiencia, muy pocas veces las organizaciones que participan en un evento tienen una estrategia puntual durante y después del evento sin perder el timing del momento. El 80% de ellas tardan entre 2 semanas y 1 mes en contactarme.

Soy fiel creyente de que la mejora continua debería existir en todos los aspectos de la vida y por su puesto, esto siempre parte de una retroalimentación aceptada y digerida con humildad. Nunca hay que perder de vista que siempre puede haber una mejor versión de nosotros mismos. Para lograrlo, la experiencia te da mucho pero a mi me ha funcionado siempre reforzarlo con teoría, estudio de otras experiencias de autores o personajes reconocidos.

So I should be that individual who can help my network and make lasting relationship with all my network. In my view : 1. Networking is not easy. It is like a hobby. It is like daily watering plant 2. Remember names and the face. Many times people get confused whom did I meet? My technique is I draw face of the person I met that day 3. It is not necessary that you should gain always from the people you meet. It works both ways

Many times you will get important information from a new contact, but since you might have received at least 15 important details from several contacts, you most likely won't remember it by the time you get to your computer/notebook (it is recommended to avoid typing in your phone while meeting someone new. In most cultures it is considered impolite). If they provide a paper business card, simply write the main points on it. Even something to just remind you how this person can help your cause.

In my opinion to network you have to be genuine curious about people, and then there are your communication skills. So if you are simply curious enough you talk to people around you and that creates a web for you, it shows that people are talking to you, so rather than thinking about meeting a particular person just start talking to people and let your curiosity explore the possibilities. Ofcourse go and connect with the person you've been wanting to but don't restrict. This is also a good communication tactic that shows people that you are someone to talk to otherwise why would people be engaging with you.
