How can you manage scope creep in user story mapping?

As per my understanding we can manage scope creep by understand the project goal and objective clearly. Documenting every steps in detail. Using project management software to keep everyone on same track and can create change control process to track the review and approval of changes for future reference.

There is a difference in approach for user mapping and therefore also creep whether we develop 1??custom made solution for known client/partner or 2??product for unknown user(s). 1??When you develop custom made solution you have user inputs and over time scope is changed. You can ask client, have meetings, change (grow or reduce) scope and all this is based on mutual decision. If there is fear of creep it is easy to recognize it and mitigate it. 2??When you are developing product, you are on your own. You only have feedbacks and audit analytics (if implemented in product). This is often not enough so you have to know industry, for which you are creating product, inside out .

Interesting that this mentions the tooling aspect of it, while it is all about communication between people. - I found that in most product increment (PI) planning events, the tool was unsuited for what needed to be discussed. - Either things are very detailed or not at all prepared. - My recommendation to agile teams and to get the most out of a PI planning: groom your tickets before the PI planning and make it very explicit what needs to be clarified with other teams. - Plan timeslots with other teams to sort out potential discrepancies and scope tickets, get buy-in for collaboration during the PI. - Take the time needed to present what you want to do. Frankly, in a corporate environment, this is not a long list of tickets.
