I have found sending hand written thank you notes in the mail to be very impactful. You can "say" thank you during thework day and most people have the attitude, "well that's what you pay me for." The attitude when an employee receives a hand written "snail mailed" thank you seems to be one of pride and gratitude. They express a feeling of REALLY being appreciated.
