In my experience it is important to widen your net, and try to apply to different domains and roles in information security, like SOC Analyst roles or red and blue, or purple teams.

On this topic, the first step is to understand whether your skill is technical or not. If not, you should look for something more focused on Privacy or even security but with a specific focus on laws and regulations or even projects, in addition to having to understand patterns, standards and frameworks. You will almost always get a question something along the lines of "Tell me about yourself". Have an answer ready to go, it should address your work history, your skills, what you are passionate about in the field, and show why you are the best pick for the job.

You should have a good understanding about what you need to protect. How to protect your assets. How hackers could steal or destroy your assets. You must get technical and administrative security certificates. Lastly, you should practice security and be part of your daily routine.
