Worked all my career on data and the term data processing applied mostly to data acquisition, consolidation and transformation for a common use case. The backend is mostly used by data engineers and data scientists. Code is better than tools than point-to-point data pipe also creating more work. Framwork-based data pipes provide agility and operational efficiency. Data analysts and business users need simple tools that can slice and dice data on different dimensions for insights. User experience is important where core functionality can be identified by surveys, interviews etc. The tool selection by user-requested functionality is very easy as there's very little difference in the features offered by commercial tools.

First and foremost thing is know your audience ! However skilled your users are everyone wants the tool to give the desired output in few clicks. Another critical thing is the Ability to fetch and process data irrespective of what form ( unstructured)it is received and extract meaningful data and visually represent it to draw insights.

Data processing should be data engineers business and they need less of manuals, tutorials or videos. Data analytics or insight generation is for data analysts, business users or data scientists i.e. data consumers. Yes, the consumers need a lot of supporting or guiding material. A data engineering team with a solid data background can support them very easily. The reality is we have very few engineers with data pedigree. Yes, the data modelling background matters. Yes Ralph Kimball, Bill Inmon data modelling matters.
