Measure how many teams/services are using your team's infrastructure. What impact (savings, revenue, new customers, funnel efficiency) is your team driving for your customers. Does this impact matter? Are you moving the needle for your leadership? for your organization? If your team is using AI to augment their day-to-day efficiency, listen to them very carefully. Be cognizant of the existential angst emerging within your team as AI is getting better faster and is becoming more "human". Remind your team their roles will evolve and change will be inevitable as machines evolve faster than us.

I've found that creating a simple proof of concept early on in an AI project can have a major impact on team motivation. Not only does it provide an attainable goal for the team to work towards, but it also serves as a way to validate the feasibility of the larger project. In turn, this boosts morale and fosters a sense of enthusiasm among team members. Furthermore, by providing a practical demonstration of how their efforts contribute to the broader objectives, a POC helps to align team expectations with realistic outcomes. When so much of the menial work, the billable hours, is removed from the workforce, people will feel lost and possibly even betrayed. AI will do the "easy" work and people will be required to do the harder stuff more often. This will cause several issues. First of all, companies don't realize how much people like mundane work. It's easy and requires little brain power. Second, I'd venture to bet that over 50% of all the workforce do not like "challenges." A puzzle or game is a challenge. Work is what pays the bills.
