Introducing yourself in a way that leaves a lasting impression is like saying, "Hello, I'm here!" with a smile. Start by being confident and clear about who you are and what you're about. Share a little story or something interesting about yourself to make the conversation more memorable. Show interest in the other person by listening and asking questions. Be polite, be yourself, and remember to follow up or stay in touch if the opportunity arises. It's all about making a friendly and positive connection, like making a new friend, so people remember you in a good way.

Being curious about others helps you learn faster about their pain points and then aligning your value proposition with their desired results. That’s the best way you can make a lasting impact and build your personal brand value.

During the early years of my career, I used to introduce myself by mentioning my name, job title, company, skills, qualifications etc. Later I realised that these are mere facts and most people do not remember you after the conversation is over. Remember, facts make you think but stories make you link. It is a story that will help you connect with your audience at an emotional level so you can leave a lasting impression. Later on I evolved a simple 3 step framework to introduce myself and it worked quite well. I will call it the IPW framework for easy recall. 1. Intro - Your name, what you do, who you help and how they benefit from you 2. Pitch - Your strengths and your successes 3. WHY - Your vision for the next 3-5 years

When you're introducing yourself make sure that you are introducing a solution to a problem that your audience is facing. For example, if you're a home chef, you can introduce yourself in 2 ways. "Hi, my name is XYZ, I'm a home chef." Or "Do you know that most families don't sit together and have dinner? And when they do they eat unhealthy food that is ordered from outside. Hi, my name is XYZ, I'm a home chef." Even though I'm saying the same thing, in the 2nd method, we have introduced ourselves as a solution to a problem that our audience is facing

Tailoring it to different situations and continuously refining it will help to effectively communicate our value and build meaningful connections. Here to know the audience is the stating step and I recommend to tailor the pitch to the specific audience or context. Please remember that what you share in a job interview will be different from what you share at a networking event.

When pitching yourself to a recruiter at a networking event or conference, use this 1-minute pitch template: 1. Introduce yourself with your name, position, school, major, and/or role you're looking for. 2. State what you're interested in. For example, you could say, "I'm passionate about the intersections between user research, business, and design, which is why I'd love to pursue PM." 3. Highlight a major accomplishment within your career. 4. State why you're interested in the company and role. You can talk about a recent product update within that organization, such as "Copilot for Viva Engage at Microsoft." Then, ask if the company is doing on-site interviews for that role.

In the initial years of my career, I always thought as many big jargons I shall add in my introduction, I shall look good. Later part of my career when I was growing in roles, getting myself into shoes of clients and talking to them more and more, I realized big paragraphs or big words will create confusion and I learnt while introducing myself to a child. Points mentioned are important but other important aspects include after a very brief introduction do not waste time on things you have mentioned in your resume / CV. Say what is not there on the paper. Be as real as you can. You should have your SWOT analysis on your finger tips. If you appear flexible more will be your chances getting through.

In my nine-year experience of mentoring high school and college students, the foundational lesson is Crafting Your Elevator Pitch. This isn't just a professional snapshot; it answers "Why should I remember you?" The crux is shifting from a monologue about you to a dialogue of mutual value. A pitch resonates when it aligns with the listener's needs, turning a transactional exchange into a relationship-building one. The finale, a directive yet open call-to-action, isn't mere courtesy. It's a strategic move to set the stage for meaningful future interactions. This skill equips students and professionals for diverse settings, from interviews to networking events.

Keeping your pitch concise is critical! It's arrogant to think that someone who doesn't know you is going to want to spend a long period of time listening to or getting to know you. You have to clearly spell out the most relevant and important things to them; the things that communicate your credibility and the value you bring.

Instead of just sharing your name/position, share your story. 'Hi, I'm Luke and I used to struggle with LinkedIn a lot. So I dedicated 2+ hours a day to it and now I help others use the platform to grow their business' You become a lot more interesting if you show an insight into you as a person, not just the face value!

I would like to add that to pay attention to your body language, maintaining good posture, eye contact, and a friendly smile. This is very helpful to connect with audience and at the same time gives enough confidence

Your introduction should be less about “how amazing you are” and focused on “how you help your prospects or the value you bring on the table”. This allows your potential client to look at you as an authority, self assured, confident and focused in driving results for your clients. Be “value centric” in your pitch.

Your body language as a listener speaks volumes. Remain open, by keeping your arms uncrossed, maintain eye contact when the person is speaking, and avoid signs of nervousness that will cause the other person to become uncomfortable and possibly shut down. Know how your facial expressions impact people you speak to. You can't express that you accept and support someone if your eyes get big and you grimace when they confide in you about something. This can take a lot of practice for people who tend to be automatically expressive, but it's a skill that will serve you. Part of being an empathic and confident listener is speaking slowly, in an even tone, and without interrupting or finishing the other person's sentences.

Be who you are and portray it. Authenticity is key. There isn't a point trying to be someone you are not. Each of us has a unique personality. Let it shine.

What has helped me get business from high end executive clients is simply improving my ART OF ACTIVE LISTENING. Another important factor is “acknowledgement” that most of people ignore. When you acknowledge your audience/prospect/clients’ life priorities, pain points or deep desires, you are making them feel heard and supported. This itself is such an important ingredient to build a long term partnership and personal impact leading to bigger opportunities.

Real engagement is about active listening and thoughtful feedback. Don't spend the time someone is talking thinking about what you will say next. If you are actually listening, your response will come naturally and usually appropriate for the situation. Validate the other person's expressed feelings, either by simply telling them you understand. When validating by sharing a similar situation of your own, be careful to keep it brief so that you aren't centering on yourself when the purpose is just to contribute to their story. Do more than nod your head or say "um hmm." Repeat what they've said to show you are actively listening. Ask questions to encourage them to go further into an issue, which builds a stronger connection.

Being a natural connector, I'm always listening and wondering who I know or what I know, which could help the person I'm talking to. By being genuinely curious and engaging in deep conversation, you can uncover many valuable insights. Active listening involves reflecting back on someone's thoughts, ideas, and concerns, which helps you gain a better understanding of what is important to them. With this understanding, it's easier to share relevant experiences or stories that can resonate with them and add more depth and understanding to the conversation. This not only keeps the conversation going, but also enriches it.

Engaging and actively listening are essential skills for effective communication and building meaningful connections. When you engage, you show genuine interest in the conversation or the person you're interacting with. Ask questions, share your thoughts, and participate actively. However, equally important is the art of listening. Actively listen to others, showing that you value their input. This not only helps you understand their perspective better but also deepens the quality of your interactions and relationships.

What I have found useful is to genuinely get interested with the person you are engaging. Should the time not be sufficient, you should not end the engagement without seeking if it were possible to meet the person another time. It may appear as a lost opportunity since you didn't crack it the first time but that effort makes the other person eager and curious to hear more.

?? Trust takes time. After connecting, express gratitude and keep the conversation going by sharing relevant content or checking in on important milestones. Consistency is key to nurturing lasting relationships.

In a dynamic work environment, it is quite natural to meet new people all the time. Something that works well for me is putting myself out there and asking open-ended questions to learn more about their offering. I would follow this with a one-to-one chat to get a more personal viewpoint. A follow-through with a personalized LinkedIn connection request and a thank you email to ensure that they are reminded of the conversation, goes a long way in leaving a strong first impression. More often than not, following up demonstrates genuine interest and care along with reinforcing your commitment to building a strong rapport.

Always: - follow up (some times you need 3-5x remember that) - deliver on your promise - and some times reconnect or checkin with the people that matter to your business (now or in the future) - Just do how you would normally do as well.

Your introduction isn't designed to get a sales call booked in. It's there to start a relationship. Once you're on their radar, you stay there. Keep posting. Send a DM to them. Make a friend with them. Then, when you've built trust, you can offer to help (and only offer to help). Your offer/services are there to help them - not take their money.

I saw someone post once that wearing bright colors to events helps you get noticed and is an easy conversation starter. I went out and a bunch of colorful apparel. It's true! My clothes always spark conversations...or at least elicit a smile! So, there's one way to introduce yourself. :)

Your personality is something that can have a lasting impact on others. - Knowing your audience - having command on the subject - speaking with confidence - ability to articulate your thoughts into a vision - ability to handle tough questions - converting a debate into a meaningful discussion - respectful about other’s opinions - ability to engage the audience through personal stories - addressing the audience with respect and compassion - ability to inspire others through your vision - mastering the art of communication - silence the critics with insightful logics - ability to control the emotions There are many other ways, the above are just a few from personal learnings.

A wee bit of research goes a long way. Review LinkedIn profiles and identify connections between your background and the background of your potential contact. Nothing makes someone accept an invitation request faster than evidence of research and investment. It is worth the time.

Giving away a Valuable thing is one of the easiest way to get attention, and also make the best impression. Even if only few take it, the gesture is of giving and not taking, that will position you better than most. Giving away thoughtfully, graciously and humility, creates a positive vibe and opens up opportunities. People will themselves come forward to take or talk Out of all, I have found this to be most effective. Offer to Help, Offer to give, offer to support, give money, books, time. Even just thinking, what can I give to people in an Event, or gathering or just anywhere, will create an window of opportunity which otherwise won't open up by thinking about yourself. You can start by answering the "What's In It For Me" from the audiences' perspective, for e. g. You can say, by the end of this talk you will be able to... Before doing this you can also seek the audiences expectations rather than straight away getting into your talk. If giving an interview, project yourself as a solution provider. It helps
