Existen muchas herramientas tipo "no code" que permiten crear recursos educativos interactivos y exportarlos como SCORM y esto está perfecto en la mayoría de casos, pero a veces debemos desarrollar recursos muy personalizados y a medida del programa de aprendizaje. En estos casos lo que recomiendo es utilizar directamente un API de SCORM en JavaScript, de esta manera se logra obtener un control total sobre lo que el SCORM debe hacer y cómo va a interactuar con cada parte del recurso. Claramente es una opción orientada a los equipos de desarrollo dentro de la organización y vale la pena siempre que se pueda, hacerlo de esta manera.

As an instructional designer, for each context I’ve worked in, I’ve had to learn which SCORM version of my e-learning modules will be compatible with the LMS. Currently the two LMSs I work with demand SCORM 2004 version 4 for one and version 3 for the other. So a key part of the instructional designer’s job is understanding which SCORM version to export to your learning platform, which will allow you to track basic data such as completion and assessment scores. Having said that, there is so much more than you can do with xAPI, which allows you much more freedom to choose what data you want to capture and display, but unfortunately, despite its obvious limitations, the standard is still SCORM. Hopefully that will change soon!
