From a functional and TA Ops standpoint, each BU in a every company has a different micro-culture when it comes to how hiring is done in that BU - depending on the legacy and pedigree of hiring managers - this can be easily translated using "Sourcing Kits" and "Interview Kits" which can give more context to the remote recruiters around what kind of people will fly, what are they measured on, where will we find such talent historically, how to find such people, what's the EVP of that BU, what has been the historical time-to hire, cost per hire etc - as per the unique needs and mini culture of that BU. This will not only help them with talent persona of the BU but will also help them feel more empowered to deliver talent.

May be this is also of the one parameters that should be checked before hiring for remote worker. It has to be a two-way relationship where the reporting manager places a trust on remote worker for the completion of tasks without micromanagement and the remote worker takes full accountability for the deliverables given.

One of my earlier managers had created a no-agenda Friday brainstorming session. It was a safe place for our team members to share new ideas, learn from each other and debate. It also builds a strong bond and help to understand different perspectives. Another key thing is to build a common knowledge/info base. Keep everything open unless there are security needs. Ensure that anyone remote should be able to understand priorities, needs etc without coming in to the office.

Treat them how you'd want to be treated. It really is that simple. - Regular and consistent check-ins - Reminder them they can come to you - Provide internal updates to them directly They as part of the team as much as those in the office. Make them feel that way ????

It is key that the manager especially can provide that listening ear and sounding board as remote working can be quite a lonely place to be at times. And finally when you have remote recruiters you need to ensure they receive updates as things change and progress. This for me is another key role of the manager.

Integrating any remote talent is challenging and a hot new topic for many companies big and small. My advice would include regular video meetings with the team not just once a week. I like the idea of storytelling and sharing some events from the week. Perhaps each recruiter can share something Friday afternoon on a video call together. Away from the normal business meetings. Funny events, recruitment story or biggest challenge that week. Also, meeting in person. Just because someone is remote, doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't be onsite and with the team sometimes like once a quarter. Invest the money to fly them over and spend time F2F with the people. Making them really feel part of the team.

If someone applies to be a remote recruiter in your firm, it means they prefer to work remotely. as long as you are monitoring their workload and checking in with them as regularly as you do with those in the office, it works. I managed a team of global remote recruiters spread out over several countries. A few things that I did to keep everyone engaged and build the team included: -1:1 weekly meetings with each recruiter -2 team meetings weekly. One on Tuesdays to go over business and learning/development opportunities. One on Thursday for fun. -Thursday fun meetings consisted of talking about your favorite books, shows, movies, etc. Each week someone was responsible for recommending the topic. We also had a group text chat where we could ask for advice, share stories, talk etc. as well as a shared folder for documents, templates, all things recruiting. A team of 5 recruiters filled over 500 technical engineering positions in a year!

Since recruiters are communicating outwardly with potential new team members, it is important for them to have a good understanding of the company culture. Additionally they need to understand the way that team departments operate in order to give candidates a good insight into what might await them once they become part of the team.
