Inspecting the tires of a leased aircraft requires following a few simple steps. First, park the aircraft on a level and firm surface and chock the wheels to prevent movement. Then, visually inspect the tires for any signs of wear, damage, or foreign objects such as cracks, cuts, bulges, blisters, tread separation, or cord exposure on the sidewalls and tread areas. Additionally, remove any stones, nails, or debris that may be embedded in the tires. Utilize a tire pressure gauge to measure the inflation pressure of each tire and compare it with the specifications in the aircraft's manual or placard. Adjust the pressure as needed; however, do not overinflate or underinflate the tires. To check for any leaks apply a soap solution to the valve stem and look for bubbles. Finally, inspect the wheels, brakes, and landing gear for any signs of damage, corrosion, or misalignment. Also examine the condition of the wheel bearings, nuts, bolts, and cotter pins. Make sure that the brake pads are not worn or contaminated and that the brake lines are not leaking or kinked.
