I have set and listened to “green technology” programs which would drive away any contractor because of the “special” way of doing things and limitations imposed. Without all the hype of green being special and unique which it is not, concentrate on blocking heat load onto the envelope of a building to prevent heat absorption and transfer to the interior. If you block “heat load”, you have reduced carbon footprint dramatically, created employee comfort and productivity and allowed the building to not weather in the sun giving a structure longer life. This results in no tear down thus reduced landfill debris, reduced energy used to rebuild and use of all new materials produced for a rebuild. SUPER THERM over the envelop achieves this.

The second step to increase the adoption of green building technologies is to showcase their benefits and demonstrate their value. To do this, it is important to provide evidence and data on the performance, savings, and advantages of green building technologies. As mentioned earlier, the “insulation coating” known as SUPER THERM was tested by the Federal DOE in their”Weatherization Program” for housing to fine that the exterior heat load onto the coating film was ONE DEGREE over ambient effectively blocking the absorption from all three radiation waves while making an average of 10.2 F difference on the interior temperature of the mobile home. When auditors returned and asked the lady about how it was working, she reported that she had not turned on her A/C since coating with SUPER THERM. Understand that we must say that other projects located in different environments and locations may give different results. This information is different from the theory of green to real green.

3 Create incentives and opportunities

The third step to increase the adoption of green building technologies is to create incentives and opportunities that encourage and facilitate their use. To reduce the financial barriers, discounts, rebates, grants, loans, or tax credits can be offered for green building projects or products. At this point you must understand a very real and “set in concrete” “insulation code” in place in all code offices in the US. “R value”. Doing the green approach by blocking heat absorption over the envelope of a building does not and never will never meet this code because we “block the initial heat load” thereby reducing the “amount of heat available for transfer”. The standard code only measures how long it takes the standard insulation to fully absorb the heat (reaching heat flux as identified by the ASTM testing) and slowing down the conduction of all this heat to the interior. Once full, the heat conducts easier, then at night, all the insulation is loaded and will continue to unload into the interior. See the difference!!!
