Important part of prioritization process is to estimate how many customers and how much will gain from implementing the request and multiply it on how much effort you need to spend. In my career I saw too many cases when teams are pushing out small features and fixes (can be done in days) and dealing with unhappy customers (spending weeks) to explain and document workarounds for original problem. Moreover, sometimes just talking and re-planning takes more effort and team spirit than just fixing it. Small things really matter. For bigger features it is a must to gather some data not to spend years of developers time on features which are used once-per-life. Maybe it is cheaper (and better) to book a flight and help customer solve it onsite?
