This can make your speech more interactive and engaging. Using slides, charts, or other visual aids can help convey complex information more easily and keep the audience engaged.

This segment, ideally positioned after the main body but before the conclusion, provides an opportunity for interaction, addressing audience queries and clarifying points. Having that clear head space, acceptance and understanding that any questions can be thrown at you will help so much. Being present at the moment will allow you to communicate whats needs to be said. It’s not always “Less talk, less mistake” complexity, but going straight to the point with the right justification of context is the key.

Public speaking is a skill that improves over time. Regularly seek feedback and look for opportunities to learn and improve. The key to effective public speaking is practice and preparation. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will become.

Record your practice sessions or presentations, and review them to identify areas of improvement in terms of tone, pace, and body language.

Practicing your delivery is a plus. Some people are born with it, but there’s nothing wrong with practicing it. It may sound simple, but watching others how they speak, trying to emulate them, their gestures and how they present themselves really helps.

Encourage colleagues or mentors to provide constructive feedback on your public speaking, focusing on both strengths and areas that need improvement.

Feedbacks are very important. Especially the constructive ones, may it be reliable or not. It will help you or us be more mindful on the things to be done better. It is important we take lightly, and yet bearing in mind that those feedback shared will help you step up your game better.

Don't underestimate the value of spontaneous speeches on the BPO floor as a public speaking exercise. Has the team achieved a milestone? Ask for everyone's attention for 2 minutes and congratulate them. Is there a challenging target that must be met before end of day? Drop a quick motivational speech before everyone breaks for lunch. As a team leader, using the BPO floor to hone your skills as a public speaker is one of the perks.

Know Your Message: Begin preparation with a clear end in mind. We tend to confuse the form and function of a public speaking presentation with its purpose. We move from one idea to another. Instead, ask your self before going to any message ‘when I’m done, what is the one thing I want everyone to take away?'” Focusing on your message will make your presentation clearer, keep your work thematically connected, and leave the audience with a meaningful takeaway.

One thing I have found helpful is being confident, not just the feeling, but having the evidence that creates confidence, this is a very important part of being well prepared.

What kind of a question is this? Public speaking skills will be helpful in every context. In a BPO context or any other context, it is important that you know your stuff. After all, you can't speak on something you know very little about.
