If you lack experience, it's crucial to handle virtually every task yourself when building a prototype—welding, lathing, milling, and more. If you lack hands-on experience, your computer designs might look polished, but you will face significant issues during the manufacturing process. To address this, you should strive to gain as much experience as possible in a workshop, using tools, machines, and even basic wrenching. Sometimes it can be highly inconvenient, and nearly impossible, simply to fit and tighten certain nuts. For instance, if holes no longer align after welding due to the distortion it causes, among other challenges. In any case, practical field experience is absolutely essential.

Being a Mechanical Engineer and an entrepreneur at the same time significantly boosts your skills. My late mentor often used to say, 'There's nothing easier than designing a complicated machine,' and he was absolutely right. Some mechanical engineers who work for a salary often do not truly care about the cost of the project, even if they say they do. Therefore, they do not push themselves to their limits and often create complicated machines and parts without paying too much attention to efficiency, both in terms of cost and time, simply because it's just easier. Consequently, they do not learn and remain in their comfort zone for years. So, if you want to improve those skills, try creating your own project that you pay for.
