Sometimes a good communication tool can make a huge difference. For my team, we often had communication breakdowns when we were many hours or days into failures and we were splitting shifts and relieving each other at odd times. We started using a group chat tool, GroupMe I think, and this seriously helped our transitions between shifts. The person at the mill would update in the group chat all the major milestones, and the relieving shift would be accountable for catching up on the thread. This really helped us when we were tired and overworked and couldn't always remember everything that had happened during the shift.
