n my view, I suggest to have a focus on different mobile devices based on your user base usage. They will keep complaining about issues on their mobiles. In that situation no matter your testing device works fine, your product has defects on user base perspective. In such a situation mobile device farms comes handy. Mobile device farms like source labs, Browser stack, Kobiton can help you. Moving to automation with Appium based frameworks makes your mobile app testing easy on mobile device farms and more solid for your user base.

Go ahead with user journey is the best way to test apps. Use real data and be a user always when clearing scenarios. It is important to have a chat with developer as well as Product owner. They knows the requirement perspective and technical impact there. Be ware of 3rd party integrations data testing. It always become terrible when test environment does something and production environment gives surprises. Always need comprehensive communication in dealing with 3rd party testing.
