1 Serial communication

Serial communication is one of the simplest and most widely used communication protocols for Robotics applications in agriculture. It involves sending and receiving data one bit at a time over a single wire or a pair of wires. Serial communication can be synchronous or asynchronous, depending on whether there is a common clock signal or not. Some of the common serial communication standards are UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN. 2 Wireless communication

Agricurtural robotics wireless communication have constraints: 1. Poor cellular infrastructure 2. Less power points 3. Long range to nearest infrastructure This constraints pose requirements to comm system: 1. Long range(more than 1 km) 2. Possible to use without concession 3. Low power Firstly define what data and how much data you need to exchange and how often. Options you can choose from: 1. Mesh networks(Zigbee, Neomesh, IQRF, THREAD) 2. Wifi 3. Sattelite 4. Cellular 5. Analog networks - for video purposes The second ingredient of success is antenna stack. You need to calculate what kind of antenna is best for coverage and what power is needed. Try to divide comm to 2 channels: 1. Basic data(control) 2. Data intensive(video etc.)

3 Ethernet communication

Ethernet communication is a communication protocol that uses the Ethernet standard and protocol suite to transmit data over a network of devices. Ethernet communication can be useful for Robotics applications in agriculture that require high-speed, reliable, and secure data transfer over long distances. Ethernet is physical connection and barely is used to communicate between robots. You need to distinguish between transport(UDP, TCP/IP) and application layer. On application layer you can choose from: MQTT, RabbitMQ. Transport layer should be chosen based on link stability and bandwidth. UDP communication is less reliable but works better in constrained environment. To choose between different application layers you need to consider availability of libraries on target infrastructure. Application layers are hard to implement by one person.

Fieldbus communication is a communication protocol that uses a digital bus system to connect different field devices, such as sensors, actuators, controllers, or robots. Fieldbus communication can be advantageous for Robotics applications in agriculture that require low-latency, deterministic, and robust data transfer over short distances. Fieldbus communication can also support different data formats, such as analog, digital, or binary, and different data types, such as process, control, or diagnostic.
