At Christ Church SU, we ensured there was a mature student on our highest level of student decision making. During my time, they advocated for a mature students blackboard. The uptake for this has grown significantly. Why is this important? It provides our students with an additional support system to their course group. They are able to have a shared understanding and shared those experience.

So, what obstacles do vocational adult learners face? 1. Time - many will benefit from an asynchronous format because they work full-time and have families. Adult learners need time to still go to work and time with family. 2. The "why" - as adults, most of us aren't going to waste time learning unnecessary material. Adult learners need relevant, engaging material to keep them active and keep them remembering why they're doing it. 3. Money - affordability is important. As working adults with families and bills, it's probably not going to be simple to fork over money from what's already budgeted. 4. Support - we have all needed help at some point. Make sure to have some level of support for adult learners. Not everyone has support at home.
