We are talking about Windows computers, so the first place to look is the Windows Event Logs. Also can use Microsoft Systernals Sysmon to automatically log all file and registry access to hopefully find the silver bullet causing the issue.

Windows “compatibility mode” can only get you so far. But when it works it could be a life saver. In the past I’ve encountered custom databases applications that have worked by enabling compatibility mode in certain folders when upgrading from both XP and Windows 7 to Windows 10
