In terms of delegation it’s relevant to trust in the mentee that she / he can perform the given tasks as agreed. The mentor should not expect a fully fledged perfect result at the first run but if you trust, you can be sure that new ideas and approaches will pop up which you might not already thought about. Because every one is addressing a new request differently.

I've always had high expectations and have held people accountable. In lieu of micro-managing, ask your mentee how you can support them. Check in frequently but not about work-related tasks. Be there for them; make sure they know you're their biggest cheerleader and create a safe space for them to make mistakes and celebrate the wins.

As a mentee begins to take on more responsibilities, I have found explaining the reason why they are. Being told that they have shown they are capable and that I have confidence in them. I let them know they will make mistakes and mistakes can be fixed if they make me aware. I tell them of times I have done the same and learned from them. If I find there's a mistake they are not aware of, I will let them know. If it's a minor mistake I will fix it and remind them later. If not, I sit and go over it while assuring the mentee it'll get easier and, in no time, it will be second nature doing the work. I'll touch base but give room to figure out their flow & style. Constant checking throws them off, sets them back, and causes confusion.
